Background: For those of you that are new to the site and unfamiliar with his work, Chad Martin is an original rock singer song writer. His song writing draws musically from numerous sources in classical and modern rock as well as blues and softer rock/folk. Lyrically, Chad is influenced primarily by great American poets and selected modern musical artists. However, his music is trademarked by his own use of imagery and multi-layeredsymbolism. Though he does have a handful of confessional pieces, Chad's primary focuses tend to be society vs the individual, the personal struggle for fulfillment, old vs new generations and how he relates these topics. His main goal is to encapsulate personal reflections of and on life and society (not to be confused with politics). After years of songwriting and performing, Chad finally began professionally recording his original work with Joe Rogers at Silence Breaks Studios in October of 2008. With Christian Linsey performing percussion, Chad handling guitar and vocals and Joe filling in on bass and organ, the recording and mixing of the album was done by June 1, 2009. In the ensuing months, Chad would master the 5 track EP "Live Oak Growing" with Tim Sturges and complete the cover art (pastel). The name "Live Oak Growing" and the album cover are both allusions to a Walt Whitman poem. Working with graphic designer, Sandra Velasquez on photograpy and cover art (digitizing Chad's pastel and cover content), by September the album was ready to duplicate and the cover art ready to print. In October, armed with hundreds of copies of the album, Chad set out to put a band together for his album release with Christian Linsey. The two settled on the date of December 5, 2009, celebrating the release of "Live Oak Growing" on iTunes, Amazaon, Lala and numerous other digital music vendors. By December 5, Chad and Christian had added guitarist Alberto Dahu and Bassist Pat Malone for the performance. The show and after party were a big hit and Chad's work has been on the move ever since...
